The Voyou is the signature bag of Matthew M. Williams' Givenchy years (2020-2024). Launched in 2023, it deliberately breaks with the house's structured silhouettes: slouchy hobo cut, casual shoulder carry, a decorative chain worn loose across the front, and a soft drape that moves as you walk. The name itself — voyou, French for "rogue" — points at the intent: make Givenchy look less polite, more streetwear-couture. The Williams signature (2020-2024)

The founder of 1017 ALYX 9SM, Matthew M. Williams took over Givenchy Paris in 2020 — the house founded by Hubert de Givenchy in 1952 and previously led by Riccardo Tisci and Clare Waight Keller. His read: industrial hardware from ALYX, softer silhouettes, a younger vocabulary. The Voyou arrives in 2023 as counterpoint to the Kenny Cutout (exposed chain, clean lines) and to the heritage Antigona: a nearly flat bag at rest that fills into volume based on what goes in. Sarah Burton took creative direction in 2024 — which likely locks in the Voyou as a Williams-era collector piece.

Sizes, leathers, and chain detail

The Voyou runs primarily in Small and Medium, with BB (mini) and XL editions. Leathers: grained calf is the daily option — the texture masks the micro-scuffs a slouchy bag naturally picks up — while smooth calfskin reads dressier, plus seasonal brushed calf, suede and python runs. The signature element is the decorative metal chain, worn loose across the front or tucked under the strap; the front G plaque is brushed metal, cleaner than Tisci's hardware language. Medium dimensions: roughly 37 × 27 × 15 cm.

At retail the Voyou sells between €2,200 (Small) and €3,500 (premium or exotic leather).
