Superb and rare Hermes shawl titled "Marwari Horse Dance", Designed by Annie Faivre in 2008. 140x140 cm. 65% cashmere and 35% silk. The Marwari is the horse of the Rajputs, the first Indo-Aryans. Not only does this caste have historical origins, it also has a mythical genealogy according to which the Rajput kings were born of the sun whose rays were made by their horses. Another legend tells that a black Arabian thoroughbred stalked the desert when he fell in love with a mare with a blond mane. On a night when the moon formed a crescent, it united with it. Their foals were born with ears in the shape of a crescent (or lyre), whence the race of the Marwari. Prince Siddhartha, the future Buddha, left his palace on a shimmering white horse. All this symbolism has made Rajput runners and their Marwari, famous all over the world. In the center of the shawl, stands an elegant and graceful frame. But in the Marwari breed there is a stock of ancestors known as Natchni, considered by local populations to be "born to dance". Decorated with silver, jewelery and bells, headdresses and cuirasses adorned with gold necklaces and precious stones, these horses are trained to perform complex movements, prancing and jumping during numerous ceremonies, including weddings. Although the Natchni strain is now extinct, horses suitable for this type of performance are still required in rural India. Marwari horses still hold an important place in the parades.
