The Constance was designed in 1959 by Catherine Chaillet, who named it after her fifth daughter, born the same year. Recognizable by its H clasp and chain or leather strap, it is one of the most coveted flap bags in the Hermès catalog. Sizes and variants

The Constance Mini 18 has been the most-requested size since 2020. The Constance 24 remains the reference format. The Constance Long is a long wallet on strap. The Constance Slim, slimmer and longer, fits a large phone. The Élan with rounded handle and the To Go belt-wallet round out the family.

Leathers and hardware

Box Calf remains the signature leather, with its glossy patina. Epsom is now the most-produced choice (structured, ideal with palladium hardware), followed by Swift (saturated colors) and Tadelakt (matte, contemporary). For exceptional pieces: Lizard Niloticus, Crocodile Porosus, or Ostrich. Hardware in gold (GHW), palladium (PHW), or ruthenium.

The Mini Constance is among the hardest Hermès bags to obtain, which regularly pushes pre-owned prices above retail — especially in exotic leathers or discontinued colors.
