In 2005, Louis Vuitton handed the classic monogram canvas to Takashi Murakami and let him have fun with it: the result was Monogram Cerises, the collection now nicknamed the Louis Vuitton cherry bag print for its scatter of smiling red cherries. The 2005 Cerises collection and its pieces

The collaboration between Takashi Murakami and then-creative director Marc Jacobs produced one of the most recognizable capsule collections in Louis Vuitton's history. The Speedy 25 is the collection's signature piece, followed by the Keepall 45 for travel and the rarer Bucket bag. The cherry print only ever appeared on classic monogram canvas, never on Damier: any piece pairing cherries with Damier print should raise an immediate flag. On a genuine piece, the cherries and their smiling faces line up cleanly across seams and hold an even red tone; blurry printing or misalignment at the seams is a warning sign.
