Pre-Owned Chloé Bags: Paddington, Marcie, Faye | JoliCloset

Founded in Paris in 1952 by Gaby Aghion, Chloé invented luxe prêt-à-porter: a fluid, romantic feminine wardrobe as precise as any couture line. That softer register — closer to Celine than to Saint Laurent — runs through every bag the house has produced, with grained calfskin, saddle stitching and ringed hardware as constants. JoliCloset lists 1,363 pre-owned Chloé bags, from $30 for small leather goods up to $3,894 for a collector-grade archive piece.

The Chloé bags that built the house

The Paddington (2005, 72 in stock) is the founding it-bag: oversized padlock, veined leather, generous silhouette — it now resells for $300–700 on the secondary market versus $1,200–1,400 at launch. The Marcie (2010, 50 pieces) opens its horseshoe shape onto braided saddle-stitched handles. The Faye (2015, 105 pieces — one of the deepest selections online) hinges on an O-ring and a sculpted chain. Supporting the cast: the crescent Drew (2014, 48 pieces), the Nile with its horseshoe bracelet handle, the O-ring Tess (22 pieces), the Paraty and the canvas-and-leather Woody tote.

Materials and bohemian Parisian DNA

Chloé favours grained calfskin, smooth calf, suede and nubuck — plus, more recently, Woody canvas trimmed with leather. The palette ages well: whisky, tan, motty grey, black, olive. Patina is claimed as a signature here, not as a flaw. On hardware, expect brushed brass and matte finishes rather than glossy chrome.

Price landscape on the secondary market

The catalogue runs from $30 (wallets, clutches) to $3,894 (rare archive pieces), with the average Chloé bag listed at $611. Current pre-owned bands by icon: Paddington $300–700, Faye $500–900, Marcie $450–800, Drew $500–1,000, Nile $500–1,100, Tess $650–1,200. Entry points start under $150 with small leather goods and pouches.

Authentication and what collectors look for

Every bag is inspected on arrival: Chloé Made in Italy (or Spain, for Spanish ateliers) heat-stamp in all caps, leather tab with 9-digit serial, saddle-stitch regularity, brass weight and matte grain, padlock engravings on the Paddington, cotton-linen or leather lining depending on model, authenticity card where applicable. Condition grades from Never worn to Correct, with wear zones shot in macro. Browse by shape: handbags, totes, clutches, backpacks or small leather goods.
