Pre-owned Céline Trio Bag — three-zip crossbody | JoliCloset

The Céline Trio is one of the bestsellers of the Phoebe Philo era. Released in 2011, it takes its name from its three zipped compartments joined by snap buttons: you can carry the full set, or detach one or two pouches to lighten the silhouette. Flat, slim, with a long woven leather strap, it became the reference crossbody pouch of the 2010s — widely copied, rarely matched. With Philo's departure in 2018 the Trio left the catalogue and became a sought-after archive piece. JoliCloset currently lists 96 pre-owned Céline Trio bags, all authenticated in-house, in a $300 to $1,100 range depending on size and condition.

Sizes, colours and configurations

The Trio comes in two main sizes. The Small measures roughly 22 × 15 × 4 cm — a compact crossbody for phone, cards and keys. The Large (≈ 25 × 18 × 5 cm) also fits a small wallet and a slim pouch. The most enduring colours on the secondary market are black, camel, deep red and navy — seasonal tones (coral, lavender, fir green) remain desirable with collectors. The thin, flat strap, sitting on the left side of the bag, is the model's most immediate visual signature.

Leather, wear and condition checks

The Trio was produced almost exclusively in smooth lambskin, which explains its distinctive hand-feel — and its sensitivity to rubbing and stains. Resale checks: the strap (wear at the attachment points, stretching), the corners of the three compartments (lambskin softens at the edges first), the zippers (a Trio with stiff zips loses significant value), and the lining of each pouch (ink marks are frequent). A clean Trio with authenticity card and dust bag commands a noticeable premium.

Retail vs. pre-owned pricing

At retail under Philo, the Small Trio sat at roughly $1,250-$1,400; the Large pushed above $1,600. As a discontinued model since 2018, retail pricing is no longer relevant. Authenticating a Céline Trio

The Trio carries the "CÉLINE Paris Made in Italy" stamp with the acute accent (pre-2018, accent mandatory) on the interior tab of the centre compartment. The alphanumeric production code is stitched below it. Our team checks: the depth and regularity of the stamp, the alignment of the three zips (they should open simultaneously when the bag is closed), the quality of the woven strap, and the consistency of the suede-like lining (colour, texture). The most common counterfeits miss the accent, over-emboss the stamp, or use a glossy synthetic lining instead of the matte microsuede.
