Designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the Spring-Summer 2017 collection, the Gabrielle handbag is named directly after Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and carries her spirit of independence. Its signature is a dual chain mixing gold and silver, interlaced with leather, sitting on a hobo body with a structured base and a soft slouchy top. At boutique, the Small now retails around €4,500-€5,200; on the second hand market, the same piece sells for a fraction of that price — and the aged calfskin only looks better with wear.

Three Hobo sizes: Small, Medium, Large

The Gabrielle Hobo comes in three sizes that cover every use case. The Small (around 20 cm) is the most iconic cut — compact, worn on a short or long shoulder drop depending on how you set the dual chain. The Medium (around 28 cm) is the all-round reference, swallowing an A5 diary, a long wallet and a small notebook without losing shape. Aged calfskin, contrasting panels and sought-after colours

The Gabrielle is cut from a soft aged calfskin, treated to show a patina straight out of the workshop. The body pieces several leather panels together, sometimes in different tones (black and beige, two blacks, midnight blue and black) that draw the hobo silhouette. Seasonal editions add pleats, chevron quilting or a contrasting tweed front — these are the ones that rise fastest on resale.
