The main Chanel bag families

The Timeless Classic Flap is the house's most requested style — 1,170 pieces currently in stock on JoliCloset. Born from Karl Lagerfeld's 1983 reinterpretation of the 2.55, it is recognised by its CC turn-lock, its leather-and-chain strap and its diamond quilting. It comes in Mini through Maxi, in caviar or lambskin.

The 2.55 bag, created in February 1955, is the matrix of Chanel's entire leather goods universe. The Reissue version keeps the rectangular Mademoiselle lock, the flat gilded chain and the burgundy lining — details that distinguish it from the Classic Flap.

The Boy Chanel, designed by Lagerfeld in 2011 in homage to Boy Capel, seduces through its boxy, androgynous silhouette and chunky chain. The Wallet on Chain, launched in 2005, is the ideal minimalist evening piece. The Gabrielle (2017) and the Chanel 19 — Virginie Viard's first signed design alongside Karl Lagerfeld for the 2019/20 collection — bring softer, more contemporary silhouettes.

Price and value on the pre-owned market

Chanel retail prices have nearly doubled in five years. The Classic Flap Medium went from roughly $5,900 in 2019 to $11,700 after the April 2, 2026 increase, and exotics or runway editions comfortably clear $20,000. Before 2021, every Chanel bag carried a holographic sticker with a 7 or 8-digit serial number paired with a separate authenticity card. From the 21A collection onwards, Chanel replaced this system with a metal plate embedded inside the bag, containing an NFC chip and an engraved alphanumeric code.
